A new section in the blog! Digest. I'll be briefly venting about everyday stuff that has piled up, mostly for myself, to have something to remember in my old age.
The blog photos have been moved to Google Photos, and now they load in the exact quality each device needs. For fancy high-res phones there will be large photos, for regular ones — small ones, and for PCs — it depends on the screen. Not many of my friends have 4k yet, but they do exist. Technical description below.
It turned out that you can't provide direct long-lived links to Google Photos (that is, embed them in the blog). But a way was found after all: in a thing called album archive, they actually exist. To make it easier to dig them out, I installed the Google Photos Direct Link extension.
The plus of all this leapfrog is that Google can resize it itself if you pass it parameters after the = sign. Because of an incident, we had an adventure. I had no way to leave the forest, and Dima decided to give me a ride on his enduro motorcycle. We push-started the motorcycle on the fifth try, and even then, thanks to a small hill. In the end, Dima rushed me from Zaļumi to Križi to catch a bus, through the forest and along the railway. That time it wasn't as scary to blast down the dirt road at 60-70 km/h, I don't know why. If you look to the side, you get motion sickness!

Thanks to the JetBrains company for my happy childhood, it's noticeably easier to do all this when you have a familiar development environment — WebStorm A license for personal use (including commercial or even when working for a company) costs only 6 euros a month. You could, of course, use Visual Studio Code like everyone else around, but then you'd have to get used to it and set it up for a month again. I don't want to.
For editing blog posts, I temporarily switched to the online editor https://stackedit.io/app#. I want to see if it will be possible to run the blog from a phone with an external keyboard.
A friend is doing a European youth experience exchange project, and complains about how much bureaucracy we have. For every sneeze — a piece of paper on where you spent the money. As a result, it's hard to ensure comfort for all participants, it's nothing but a headache for the organizer. In other countries, the measures aren't nearly as draconian.
I carried out the second stage of toilet repair. I replaced the flush mechanism (fittings) inside the tank. I'd been suffering from the old one leaking water out of the tank. Both the water is leaking, which is bad for the environment, and it's gurgling, messing with my sleep. I suffered for several months, and finally got my act together and solved the issue. It turned out that Depo has an adjustable one made in Czechia. The process itself is quite simple, although the device is mechanically tricky. The next everyday task — thick fabric for curtains that blocks out light. I couldn't buy ready-made blackout curtains in Daugavpils, so I'll go to a fabric store.
